Flu Balls

As the virus spreads we can be sure of only one thing... people will continue to lie, exaggerate and bleat idiotically on the net. It's time for a trip into the land of the kooks...

"It's all psychological," said 20-year-old Edgar, an emo whose fringe covered most of his face. "I think it is a plot by the government to control us," he added, echoing a widespread sentiment that what the authorities say cannot be trusted. The Guardian

When will newspapers understand; people on the street do not make trustworthy or intelligent contributors.

Some "Have Your Say" gems

I go to church every Sunday and pray to God for strength , so im fully protected. God is with me, so all you non-believers must look for faith in Almighty God and be saved.

Mr Tomin, Bath

The idiocy of this statement is so blatant it hurts.

They say "new virus", I keep asking myself, if it is new, how come that they( who ever they are), already have the medicine, some tamiflu...Were "they" prepared? Was this planned? It seems to me that this is the story for Mulder and Scally...

ruzica, banja luka, bih

ruzica is a genius! How stupid we have all been! It's obvious this was planned because then the... or the... oh wait... but... erm... WHY???? Why would "the Government" do this?

Hmm. I smell diversion tactics by the government. On the same Monday morning that this is big news (the week after the laughable budget)- there is a news story about the security services recording all our communication online. Yet the biggest story is flu- of which people die of anyway whether it is a new strain or not. This story had gone un-noticed yet is this biggest infringement of civil liberty I seen seen for years. Are you afraid of flu or big brother watching your every move for life?

So desperate was she to cover up her draconian, and disgusting, new rules, Jacqui Smith infected some Mexicans with Swine Flu so it'd be the top story on the very day she announced the new rules. Or not.

Well it appears that the Fema Camps in the US will get to try out all of those plastic coffins after all. Bio weapon ? could be, a very quick way to rid yourself of all of those people who dare to ask for equality and accountability from our elected leaders. Question we should be asking is why has this spread so quickly and mutated already? CDC in Atlanta have yet to release any real data, but as an arm of the federal bicep no surprise there. Get to the hills with your nearest and dearest.

I'm glad someone's keeping their head in this crisis.

"This is all caused by people who eat meat. If the world's population were vegetarians then this and many of the other problems in the world would go away."

So who's to blame for the E.coli spinach outbreak a while back? Huh... VEGGIES! I KNEW IT! BURN THEM ALL!

I am concerned about the suddenness of this variety of flu.I am also wondering if anybody is concerned with the migrant workers picking our fruit and vegetables. It is almost strawberry season here and there are a lot of mexican pickers. It seems to me that this would be an easy avenue to spread the disease. First it was the meat eaters, now it's the fruit pickers.

Most don't know that this virus was bio-engineered in a US lab & was being planned to be released for months now. Its part of the bigger plan to depopulate the planet, and since Bird Flu didn't do the trick, 'they' are now trying this. One should be extremely wary of taking vaccinations, as this is part of the strategy - they may well be 'tainted' with the virus itself! And did you notice the number of chemical trails all over London skies in the last few weeks? Well, what were 'they' spraying?

James, Warm

You know what after reading through these I'm sorta starting to see why one might wish to depopulate our planet...

And the best until last...

JERUSALEM (AP) — The outbreak of swine flu should be renamed "Mexican" influenza in deference to Muslim and Jewish sensitivities over pork, said an Israeli health official Monday.

Deputy Health Minister Yakov Litzman said the reference to pigs is offensive to both religions and "we should call this Mexican flu and not swine flu," he told a news conference at a hospital in central Israel.

Both Judaism and Islam consider pigs unclean and forbid the eating of pork products.

Scientists are unsure where the new swine flu virus originally emerged, though it was identifed first in the United States. They say there is nothing about the virus that makes it "Mexican" and worry such a label would be stigmatizing.

Alright, those are other people's take on the story... what's yours?

As someone with no medical training whatsoever my take on the story is it's something to worry about, keep an eye on and hope those with the relevant knowledge help those who need help.

Not half as funny as the crazies in my post and not really very useful so I didn't see the point in adding my two cents to an already busy internet cluster "you know what".

Well... it's your blog so I guess you could say you'd already added your two cents worth by choosing and posting exactly those comments :)
